Our Dog Allergy Consult Services

Hey, this is Dr. Bob with Carolina Value Pet Care. Thanks for joining us. Today I want to talk to you a little bit about our allergy consults. For those who may or may not know, not full-service veterinarians, but the one medical service we do offer is for dogs with skin allergies and ear problems. Dogs that are biting, scratching, licking, itching, chewing, ripping their hair apart, or just keep on licking at their paws, for example, and those with ear problems. We see a lot of dogs with skin allergies. There is a separate fee for the examination and the consult. I will spend anywhere from 10 to 15 to 20 minutes with you, discussing the origin of the problem so we can get to the root of what's causing it.

We get a lot of clients who are not always aware of what is causing their dog's issues. I get into all of that so you can have the expectation of finding out why this is happening and why it keeps happening. We're going to get into all those discussions when we have a chance to meet. Of course, we have multiple sorts of treatments for the ears and/or the skin, depending on what we see. We have things like Apoquel and Cytopoint, as well as cortisone injections. We have different pet products for ear problems. I mention all this because we get a lot of people who come in and don't realize that we offer this service. Once they get there, we see their pets have horrible skin. If somebody's willing to pay the additional fee for the exam and the consult, we're happy to have that discussion and find ways to provide suitable relief for your pet.

I also have multiple handouts on food allergies, seasonal allergies, and environmental allergies, all with lots of suggestions for things you can do to help your pet at home once we get through the initial examination. Please let us help your pet. So many of these pets are absolutely miserable, and we want to find some way to improve the quality of their life. We can help with that. So thanks for listening, and we hope to see you soon.

If you still have other questions and you'd like to reach out to us, you can call us directly at (704) 288-8620, you can email us, or you can reach out on social media. But please do reach out, and we'll get back to you as fast as we can.

Allergy Consults

We are able to help many dogs and cats with allergies. Skin issues, seasonal allergies, food allergies and ear infections are problems that can be managed with the help of a dedicated veterinarian team. During our consults*, our vets will examine your pet's skin and ears and identify the origin of the problem. They will discuss that with each individual as well as have an understanding of the owners' expectations in the long run.

We have a few different methods to medicate and manage the diagnosed allergy and assist you to make the best choice for your dog or cat. We have an allergy questionnaire form we may ask you to fill out to get an idea of the baseline information. We then work towards a solution that works for you and your pet. Our vets provide you with educational materials to learn more about pet allergies so as a team, we can help your pet find relief from the itching, biting and pain.
