Situational Anxiety in Dogs

We have numerous clients telling us how stressed their dogs are, but only during certain predictable situations. There can be a variety of triggers for this “panic” behavior:

  • Car rides
  • Thunderstorms
  • Boarding visits
  • Fireworks
  • Veterinary visits
  • Visits to a groomer
  • Repairmen coming into the home
  • Boisterous children, etc.

You can usually anticipate your pet’s disturbing reaction before it even happens. Every dog has its own way of showing their anxiety:

  • panting excessively
  • pacing around the house or car
  • significant trembling
  • over-excitement
  • vocalizing / yipping
  • drooling excessively

These dogs are gripped with fear, and they deserve to be medicated in a way that turns off the alarms that are triggering these severe reactions.

For those pets where there are specific conditions that trigger their anxiety or mis-behavior, we now carry ElleVet Calm and Comfort Max Strength Chews. These are the perfect choice if you need to transport your pet (vet visit, grooming appointment, boarding visit, etc) or during 4th of July and New Years fireworks episodes or whatever anticipated event results in severe anxiety for your dog.

Give the proper dose about 1½ to 2 hours before the known event, and you can expect your dog will be much more relaxed and calm. They cannot control the situation, so let’s find a humane way to help them through this trauma. Definitely give the ElleVet Calm and Comfort Max Strength Chews a try.
